Running the Bases

via Daily Prompt: Base

Will you get to first base, second, third or run the bases and steal home? I remember when I was a teenager, so very long ago, that is how we referred to sex. First base was well, you know, pretty vanilla, a boy would cop a feel. Second base,  you got a boob or two 🙂 Third base, well, you can guess what the prize was, if you’re still not sure, just know that the word is all over the news now thanks to an election year here in the United States. If you got to home plate you could kiss your virginity goodbye. Back then, it took a long time for a guy to reach home for me, a very long time!

Now it’s all so different. At my age pretty much everyone wants to score and get to home plate immediately. It’s not a bad thing, I mean we are all adults and sometimes, well, you just can’t hold back. But most times, for me, there needs to be a different type of base – one that involves getting to know me, cerebrally and emotionally first, then physically.  After that happens, then I say batter up, and make it home, safely of course!

About geminilvr

I have been through many relationships in my life, most long term, and they have all shaped who I am in some way. I try to find humor through the pain and heartbreak and find the strength to do it all over again. My blog is sprinkled with past relationships, current status and thoughts on it all! I hope my experiences make you smile, laugh or cry along with me and relate to the complexity that is life, my life, perfectly imperfect.

  1. I don’t think I ever heard those terms. Of course, one of the first times Loser called me a fucking moron was when I said “girls weren’t having sex when I was in high school.” (Seriously, I don’t think they were.)
