When a person that we love leaves us, you feel as if there is a hole in your heart so large you wonder how, and even if, it will ever be filled in again. The hole is filled with pain, regret, sadness.
But eventually your heart begins to heal. Sometimes it happens faster than you thought it ever could. Other times it may be a slower process and happens in tiny increments, the filling of that gaping wound, taking more time than you wish, but the filling of the hole begins.
And then it happens, you wake up one day and realize that the pain was just a process you needed to get through to open your heart to love again. You feel alive, you are happy, you are ready. Tiny pieces of love have filled that gap, that void. Those pieces that helped you heal may have come from a combination of things, your friends, your family, your own soul searching. It may also happen when someone unexpected walks into your life and wants to love you, and knows and values your worth. Your heart becomes full.
You heal, you move on, you open your heart again. Love has won, you have won.
